California based Owner and Operator, Gaines Investment Trust, is providing an opportunity for an experienced Interior Designer for a portfolio of conventional apartment communities located across five states.

Gaines Investment Trust is a private Real Estate Investment Company that has been in business for over 52 years. Presently, the company has apartment communities in five states totaling over 7,500 units, in addition it has commercial and industrial properties in a variety of markets. Experience and Skills

  • Possesses the ability to understand different lighting sources and how they relate to change in color
  • Able to offer feedback to management regarding Color and design issues
  • Able to put together Decorating Boards for Owners to make final decisions
  • Has experience working with painters, selecting color schemes factoring in roof shingles, building design including permanent siding and selecting paint sheens and paint types
  • Has experience decorating hotel lobbies, apartment clubhouses, apartment models
  • Coordinates electrical, mechanical, structural consultants, and other consultants or vendors
  • Coordinates and/or undertakes the selection and specification of furniture systems, fixtures and equipment
  • Possesses creativity, technical skills, and an understanding of how to produce a functional yet beautiful space for our communities
  • Coordinates and communicates project milestones, progress, and deliverables with Managing Director and Regional Managers
  • Multifamily Experience is a Plus
  • Knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials, color selections, and specifications


Technology Requirement

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or related field from an accredited school
  • Minimum 2 years of interior design experience
  • Proficient in AutoCAD is preferred (Sketch Up + Revit is a plus)
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop + InDesign)
  • Spexx, or SpecSources (Or similar FF&E Specification writing software)


  • Salary – $70,000 (based on experience)
  • Certain Reimbursements for office supplies, phone, travel, gas
